About the ForestNavigator Portal

The ForestNavigator Portal is an online decision-support tool developed within the EU Horizon Europe project ForestNavigator (2022 to 2026) and a joint outcome of the ForestNavigator project consortium. It brings together knowledge, tools, and insights to sustainable forest management and policy-making in the EU.

The Portal contains two web tools for exploring EU forest evidence: the Data Explorer and Pathways Explorer. The Data Explorer provides access to harmonised datasets on forest status, changes, disturbances, and biodiversity supported by metadata for interpretation and reuse. The Pathways Explorer supports comparison of EU forest mitigation pathways, including policy-relevant, to assess mitigation outcomes across EU Member States. The Portal continues to be developed, with finalisation of contents and functionalities expected by end of 2026.

In the Data Explorer users can navigate interactive maps and charts of EU forest indicators, explore patterns across countries and administrative units, and datasets documentation to support consistent interpretation. In the Pathways Explorer, users can explore and compare scenario pathways for the EU forest sector, examine pathway outcomes as presented in the tool, and use comparison views to support interpretation and communication of results.
